"Our Mission is to keep the orphans of this world warm"
History of Hats for Orphans
Hats for Orphans is an organization that was started in 2005 by Michele Yetter of Helena, Montana. Crocheting is a hobby that she has enjoyed for almost 40 years. Having already made afghans and other items for all of her family members, she wanted to be able to keep on crocheting and help others around her. That is when God gave her the idea for Hats for Orphans. It started out with just making hats for Orphans in an orphanage in Kabul, Afghanistan for the first two years. After that, God told Michele to let others in on the excitement of making hats for Orphans around the world. During the summer of 2007, Michele turned Hats for Orphans into a non-profit organization recognized by IRS.

With the hard work of people around the United States, there will be hats, mittens, scarves, tie-blankets, and baby quilts available for orphanages all over the world. The items are hand made or new and will be delivered to the Orphans by volunteers. The money donated to Hats For Orphans will not be used for salaries of the board members, since they are all volunteers who have a burden for the orphans. The donations will be used to get the items to the orphans and keep the organization going.
